Dear Families,
We are so lucky to have an outstanding public library in our community. The Howell Carnegie District Library is always looking for ways to improve its services to our community and district. In addition to its summer reading program, the library has added a new resource for families called Teachables from Scholastic to support summer learning. Teachables is a database of printable worksheets for grades pre-kindergarten through sixth. Teachables can be found under the Homework Help webpage on the library’s website. It is accessible to anyone with a device & Internet access by logging in with an active Howell Library card (including student e-cards).
Our Final Meal Distribution is Monday, June 29
Our final meal distribution of the school year will be on Monday, June 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the circle drive on the north side of Howell High School. This meal kit distribution will only contain two days worth of meals due to United States Department of Agriculture rules, which limited our meal kit distribution to the current fiscal year which ends on Tuesday, June 30. We will also offer delivery to families who lack transportation to pick up meal kits. To request delivery for Monday, June 29, please visit http://bit.ly/2vZoHa2. All requests for delivery will need to be submitted by 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 28. This will allow our Food Service and Transportation Departments to plan for the deliveries.
Livingston Diversity Council CommUNITY Conversation Kick-off Event
Tomorrow, Friday, June 26, the Livingston Diversity Council and several local organizations will host a CommUNITY Conversation kick-off event, from 6 to 7 p.m. at 2/42 Community Church. The event will feature guest speakers and is the first of several planned events around the topic of diversity and equity in Livingston County. Weekly Bond Update
Around the district, progress continues on our bond projects. At several of our elementary schools playground upgrades have started, and our paving projects at Voyager and Northwest are nearing completion. Work also continues on the secure vestibules at each school, and the old lighting at Howell High School’s Memorial Stadium has been removed to make way for the new light poles and lights. Additionally, devices for the elementary school project labs/MakerSpaces were ordered this week. To view this week’s full bond update, please visit https://bit.ly/3i4Zs9a.
Return to School Parent Survey Closes Tomorrow
Our initial Return to School Parent Survey will close tomorrow, Friday, June 26, at 4 p.m. If you have not taken the survey, please do so. This initial feedback will assist us in our planning for the return to school in the fall. As a reminder, this is the first of several surveys that will likely be issued over the summer. As we receive additional guidance from the State of Michigan and local health officials, we will be asking for additional feedback from our families. The survey can be found at https://bit.ly/3cZdci8.
Due to the holiday next week, I will not be sending a Thursday communication. However, if there are any important updates, we will send out a district-wide email.
Sincerely,
Erin J. MacGregor, Ed.S.
