Community

We're proud of our many partnerships with local businesses, civic organizations, and nonprofit groups. Their help extends far beyond what we as a school district could ever do.

Businesses In many cases, support evolves naturally from the nature of a company's business. A physician supports Red Cross training. A dentist provides dental health information. An oil distributor gives grants to promote interest in math and science careers. A machine shop offers internships to students who want to pursue a career in the skilled trades.  An aviation company offers a Private Pilot Ground School. A business gives incentives for students to participate in "March is Reading" month. A department store sponsors PTO projects. And the list just keeps on growing.
Civic Organizations Civic organizations have a long tradition of supporting education, and Howell branches of the Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club are staunch supporters of our schools and events. At Howell High, the Rotary Club sponsors an Interact Club, a service club for students ages 12–18. Every Interact club carries out two service projects a year—one that helps their school or community, and one that promotes international understanding.

Nonprofit Groups Not every kid sails through school with no problems. The nonprofit group Reaching Higher, based in Brighton, brings its character-building leadership training program to Howell Schools. The program teaches goal-setting, coping techniques, communication skills, and good decision-making strategies for school and life.

Of the many other ways nonprofits help, here are a few.

These are just a few of our partnerships, and we could always use more.
